This Friday, New Chamber Ballet‘s season opens with five short works by Miro Magloire set to live piano and violin. After a debilitating Lisfranc fracture in 2014 that necessitated two foot surgeries, dancer and New Chamber Ballet veteran Elizabeth Brown is fully recovered and back into her routines both offstage and on. Brown took a moment out of her busy freelance schedule to let us know how she keeps it all together midweek when a premiere is only two days away.

{ Dd }: What gets you over the hump?

Elizabeth Brown: Whiskey? No, not really.

I try to pay a lot of attention to that hump day, the Wednesday of our production week. I’m careful not to schedule too much work for the evening so that I can finish earlier than I normally do on a Monday or Tuesday. Then I try to see what needs a bit of catching up for my body. Do I need a last minute acupuncture appointment or a grocery run for something yummy? Should I do a little extra rolling or stretching at the end of the day? Sometimes a little adjustment can set me up for the rest of the week.

But if all else fails though, whiskey!
