Check out the Dd short short list for the week of Nov. 4, 2013.

Dancers of PREMIERE

Dancers of PREMIERE

1. Maria Hassabi’s PREMIERE

From The Kitchen‘s site: “PREMIERE brings together performers Biba Bell, Hristoula Harakas, Robert Steijn, Andros Zins-Browne and Hassabi, sound designer Alex Waterman, and visual artist/dramaturg Scott Lyall. A premiere, a highly anticipated event, represents the first meeting with the public: the audience, as viewer and critic. Essentially this moment is what validates the existence of any creation as a “work of art.” Hassabi’s PREMIERE takes its time and explores this first public encounter.

Co-presented with Performa 13.

At The Kitchen, Wednesday 11/6 – Saturday 11/9 at 8pm, $30. TONY’s interview with Hassabi. Stayed tuned for Dd editor Candice Thompson’s post-performance piece on PREMIERE.

2. Compagnie Marie Chouinard

Chouinard’s Montreal-based company performs two works at The Joyce, including Gymnopédies, set to and named for Satie’s music.

Wednesday 11/6 at 7:30, Thursday 11/7-Saturday 11/9 at 7:30, Sunday 11/10 at 2:00.

3. Fall Movement Festival

A presentation of six choreographers over three evenings. San Francisco-based choreographer Kathleen Hermesdorf and her musical collaborator Albert Mathias perform all three nights of the festival.

At Center for Performance Research, Thursday 11/7 – Saturday 11/9 at 7:30pm. $10.
