When I went to buy my new 2011 planner, I found out that the Barnes & Noble at 66th and Broadway is closed. It is to be replaced by Century21.

Barnes & Noble and its equivalents have already put countless independent book stores out of business. It’s ironic that a central location of this leading store is now disappearing.

While I think that iPads, Kindles, and Nooks are super cool and great alternatives that benefit the environment, I find it disheartening that an iconic part of the Lincoln Center neighborhood (or so I think) has gone out of business and is being superseded by a massive clothing store.
