Dd LIVE STREAM: Indie Rock Star Sufjan Stevens plus NYCB Ballet Stars 9/23 at 7:30p

Works and Process at the Guggenheim is at it again: selling out a fresh program and offering it to the world via live stream!

Next Sunday 9/23 at 7:30p, the panel, including choreographer Justin Peck and composer/inde rock star/artistic renaissance man Sufjan Stevens, will discuss the creative process behind Justin Peck’s new work Year of the Rabbit for New York City Ballet. I have been a huge fan of Stevens’s albums Michigan, Illinois, and Enjoy Your Rabbit, which is the electronica song cycle based on the animals of the Chinese Zodiac as well as the basis for this new music and dance collaboration. I am excited to see how this project has grown since November 2010, when it was first created for SAB students and I saw it as part of the New York Choreographic Institute’s 10th Anniversary Celebration at the Miller Theatre at Columbia University. Elaborated, expanded, and now with performances by a principal cast of Ashley Bouder, Joaquin De Luz, Robert Fairchild, Craig Hall, Teresa Reichlen, Janie Taylor, this work should provide us with a particularly electric evening.
